Viktoria Bernat

Hi, my name is Viktoria.

I’m from Hungary and moved to the Netherlands in 2021. Like many internationals, I thought English would be enough, but I soon realized that if I truly wanted to feel part of life here, learning Dutch was essential.

I tried language courses, conversation classes, and even asked Dutch friends to practice. I learned the grammar and the vocabulary, but still struggled to use Dutch confidently in real life. I know how hard it is to put yourself out there when you don’t have enough opportunities to practice.

That’s when I imagined a different kind of space: where expats with a basic level of Dutch could come together, practice naturally, and build confidence while working on something meaningful. Not another classroom, not repetitive small talk, but something meaningful.

And so, Make it in Dutch was born: a space where learners work on real community projects. Here, you practice Dutch naturally, share your own ideas, collaborate with others, and make new connections, all while staying motivated because your work also makes a difference.

My vision is to provide expats with a safe and supportive space to practice Dutch and help their community along the way.

Hope to see you around!

Viktoria ✨

Jens van Kamp

Hello, I’m Jens and I’m a Dutch teacher.

For several years I’ve been teaching Dutch as a freelance teacher and through my own small business: Dutch with Jens. I’m joining Make it in Dutch with great enthusiasm because I believe it’s the perfect way to learn Dutch, and a beautiful opportunity to bring people from different backgrounds together.

During my lessons, my goal is to help students overcome the challenge of learning a language in an international city like Amsterdam. I have a background in theatre and improv comedy, and I combine my knowledge of teaching and the Dutch language, with my love for dialogue, scenes, and games. My main focus is on helping students gain the confidence to actually use the language.

Make it in Dutch corresponds perfectly with how I believe a language should be learned: organically, with a clear purpose, socially, and with fun! During the sessions, we’ll only speak Dutch, and the vocabulary is focused on a tangible project we’re all working on together. I’m there to encourage, guide, support, and answer every question.

Hope to see you soon!

Jens 😊
